What does the price of translation depend on?
For an electronic document, the length and price are based on the number of standard pages of the source (one standard page = 1,800 characters with spaces or 1,500 without).
If the text is only on paper or handwritten, the price may be based on the target-language length. The completed translation may grow or shrink – e.g. German–Estonian about 10% shorter, Estonian–Russian about 20% longer.
The price depends on the prevalence of the language (rarer = more expensive), the complexity of the text and additional services (adaptation, layout, design). Completion time also matters – urgent work is subject to express rates.
You can send electronic materials via the quote form or by e-mail.
Bring documents to our office or, if you are abroad or far from Tallinn, send them by registered mail, courier or an Omniva/Smartpost parcel machine. We can return the finished documents the same way.
On site you can pay in cash or by card.
Companies are invoiced once a month or after each translation project is completed.
Definitions
A company providing translation as a comprehensive process – translations are also edited and undergo a pre-delivery check.
A translator works in writing; an interpreter works orally.
Written translation including editing, terminology work where needed, and a pre-delivery check.
Oral translation, distinguishing whispered, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.
The interpreter interprets in a low voice to a small group (1–3), simultaneously with the speaker. No equipment needed.
The speaker presents in parts; after each part the interpreter renders it. They take turns.
The interpreter speaks at the same time as the speaker from a booth; the interpretation reaches earphones. Equipment required.
Text submitted by the client to be translated. Preferably an original, not a translation.
A source text translated into the target language.
Source – the language of the original. Target – the language it is translated into.
Reading of a translated text by another person to verify linguistic correctness and clarity.
Checking that the translated text matches the source.
Verifying the meaning is conveyed correctly and completely, sentences are logical and terminology consistent.
Checking the correct and appropriate use of specialist terms.
Additional services ensuring quality: term lists and translation memories, terminology, consultations, localisation, layout, design, etc.
General checking of the translated text so the format, layout, names and numbers are correct and all parts translated.
